Positional Pressure Without an Engage

Situation

The enemy wants to walk out, rotate, take a wall, leave an objective, or reset. Your zerg does not have a perfect engage.

Correct response

Use position, Q/W pressure, tank presence, slows, firewalls, and support pressure to make enemy movement uncomfortable.

You do not always need a full bomb to win space.

What positional pressure can do

  • force enemies away from good terrain
  • split enemy movement
  • make healers work
  • bait defensive cooldowns
  • create smaller clumps
  • trap enemies against walls or chokes
  • prevent free resets

Common failure

Players wait for a perfect engage while the enemy walks out for free. No one pressures, no one occupies the route, and no one turns small opportunities into value.

Review questions

  1. What route did enemy want?
  2. Who could pressure that route safely?
  3. Did tanks/supports occupy useful space?
  4. Did DPS Q/W pressure happen?
  5. Did the zerg wait for perfection and lose position?

Drill

Pick a 10-second period where no major engage happens. Ask who created space or pressure without E.
