Support Tool Notes

Support tools are direct answers to enemy pressure.

Support functions

Function What it solves
Damage mitigation helps the zerg survive a danger window
Mobility support helps the zerg rotate, cross, or disengage as a unit
Enemy disruption interrupts, purges, slows, or delays enemy plans
Tank/front protection keeps the protective layer alive long enough to matter

Anticipation rule

Support tools should be prepared before the enemy damage lands. A perfect defensive placed after the danger has passed is usually too late.

Supports should watch:

  • enemy name tags
  • bomb squads on side angles
  • tank movement
  • DPS stacking
  • sudden rotations
  • off-cooldown patterns
  • where the friendly zerg is vulnerable

Positioning rule

Supports must be close enough to counter enemy pressure, but not so close that they become part of the clump they were supposed to save.

Save priority

When a support must choose where to place defensive value, the tank/frontline layer often deserves attention. If the players holding danger collapse, healers and DPS become exposed next.

Review questions

  • Did the support anticipate or react late?
  • Did they watch side angles and bomb squads?
  • Did their cooldown land on real danger?
  • Did they help tanks/frontline when needed?
  • Did they stay close enough to help without getting caught?
