New to ZvZ

ZvZ is not just a bigger small-scale fight. The important difference is that your individual movement affects the entire group's survival.

Your first job

Your first job is not to top damage, make a hero play, or understand every call. Your first job is:

Be in the correct place when the zerg needs you.

That means:

  • do not stand on friendly players
  • do not run one screen away
  • stay close enough to turn with the group
  • learn one stable role before over-flexing
  • use defensives when real damage is landing
  • review mistakes without turning critique into drama

The first mistake most players make

New players often treat calls like literal movement commands.

If the caller says "south," they click south even if the actual goal is to build a front, protect a choke, or prepare a turn around terrain.

Better question:

Where should my role be so this call works?

First review habit

After your next CTA, do not ask "did I die?" only ask:

  • Was I close enough to help the turn?
  • Did I clump on friendly players?
  • Did I panic away after enemy cooldowns were spent?
  • Did I understand what my role was trying to do?
